Dorota Gawęda and Eglė Kulbokaitė present a performative online lecture titled
Vaporized, dispersed, made particulate
that renders landscape as a primary site of speculation on both the natural and the constructed and tries to re-introduce folkloric narratives into our technological present. The performance will present the artists’ past and current research interspersed with text, image and video material from their recent body of work
(2020 - ) as well as work-in-progress conceptualised while on the residency at Alserkal Foundation in Dubai. Gawęda and Kulbokaitė will also speak about their ongoing work on fragrance, underlying molecular entanglements between the subject and their surroundings.

In this online workshop,
Isabel Lewis shares ideas around sociality and embodiment. No formal training of any kind is required to participate and all adults with a curiosity about dance and other embodied practices are encouraged to attend.
Lewis will introduce feminist sociologist Roslyn H. Bologh’s notion of “erotic sociability” as a form of interhuman sociality and guide a conversation about this as an alternative to the dominant 20th century relational modes of competition, conflict, and coercion. This workshop will then focus on the tuning and heightening of the senses in order to facilitate a state of hyper-presence that will be the aid towards generative and affective forms of being together.
The figure of the "unambitious stripper" serves as a metaphor guiding us to connect with our inner worlds in order to become more radically receptive to our outer worlds. The outward-oriented gaze of the stripper that usually reaches out to address and arrest the client with the ambition of monetary gain is turned in on itself in this scenario. In this movement workshop instead of stripping off our clothes, we will use our imaginations to turn our attention inward, toward the surface of our own skin and imagine peeling away layers of social constructs and identity to access a personal inner space.
Dorota Gawęda & Eglė Kulbokaitė
Dorota Gawęda (b. 1986, Lublin, PL) and Eglė Kulbokaitė (b. 1987, Kaunas,LT) are an artist duo established in 2013 and based in Basel (CH). Both are 2012 graduates of the Royal College of Art, London. Their work spans video, performance, installation, fragrance, and sculpture.
They have exhibited internationally including: Swiss Institute, New York (2020); Den Frie, Copenhagen (2020); MWW, Wroclaw (2020); Kunstverein Düsseldorf (2020 and 2016); Lafayette Anticipations, Paris (2019); Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2018); 6th Athens Biennale (2018); MMOMA, Moscow (2018); CAC, Vilnius (2017); Kunsthalle Basel (2017); ICA, London (2017); MOMA, Warsaw (2016); Berlin Biennale 9 (2016); MAM, Paris (2015) among others. Their recent solo shows include presentations at: Julia Stoschek Collection, Düsseldorf (2020); Trafo Gallery, Budapest (2020); Amanda Wilkinson Gallery, London (2020 and 2018); Fri Art – Kunsthalle Fribourg (2020); Futura, Prague (2019); Lucas Hirsch Gallery, Düsseldorf (2018); Cell Project Space, London (2018). Upcoming exhibitions include presentations at: Kunstverein Leipzig (group); Lucas Hirsch Gallery, Düsseldorf (solo); Istituto Svizzero, Milan ( performance); Swimming Pool, Sofia (solo), Istituto Svizzero, Palermo (solo). The duo are also the founders of YOUNG GIRL READING GROUP (2013 - ).
Isabel Lewis is Berlin-based, born 1981 in Santo Domingo and raised on a man-made island in Southwest Florida.
Trained in literary criticism, dance, and philosophy, Isabel Lewis’ work takes on many different formats: from lecture-performances and workshops to music sessions, parties, installations, and what she calls “hosted occasions.” Her inherently collaborative work creates alternative modes of sociality between human and more-than-human agents, generating affective experiences that address all of the senses. Lewis has created works around topics such as open source technology and dance improvisation, social dances as cultural storage systems, rapping as embodied speech acts, collaborative creative formats, future bodily techniques, the body as multi-organismic assemblages and the sociological concept of erotic sociability.
Lewis’s work has been presented by Dia Art Foundation, Kunsthalle Zürich, Sharjah Biennial, Roskilde Festival, Berliner Festspiele-Gropius Bau, Tate Modern, Steirischer Herbst, Centre d'Art Contemporain Genève, Kunsthalle Basel, Liverpool Biennial, Serpentine Galleries, Tanz Im August, Kampnagel, Göteborg International Biennial for Contemporary Art, Palais de Tokyo, Creative Time with Art Basel, Ming Contemporary Art Museum and Karachi Biennial Trust among others.
